LEE NOBLE: LURKERS
Lurkers is ridden with copies, sequels, and duplicates. Noble engages in a kind of reclamation, using a scavenger’s eye to unearth and reanimate lost missives and forgotten meanings. In a world where little seems truly new, his recombinant approach to art making builds a unique and vibrant aesthetic universe. Images are cropped and enlarged, scissored from magazines, digitized, and then painted by hand, sculpted and slip cast again and again, and presented together without comment in varying states of readability.

In Noble’s practice, the oft-asked question ‘where is that from?’ offers a meditative respite from an overly cluttered, endlessly self-referential world.

"Lee Noble's music resides in a world of shadows and fog, whispered secrets and floating harmonics. His latest tape is a continuation of his synth exorcisms, dragging the spirit world for lost transmissions. His pieces aren’t set up for movement, slow and steady, they build as environmental cues – with a focus on imperfections in texture, hues of grey that pockmark floors and walls. There are a lot of ways to run ambient, and Noble has carved out his own indefinable niche in the sound—one that’s ineffably sad, but packs a hold that won’t soon let go." ~Raven Sings the Blues
