Twin Cities Art Week is a celebration of the vibrant local contemporary art scene in 24 venues across Minneapolis and St. Paul. From October 12-16, the Twin Cities Art Week will offer a full calendar of events including a gallery crawl, live performances, exhibition walkthroughs, film screenings, artist talks, parties and more. Spearheaded by Dreamsong, the participants of Twin Cities Art Week include major institutions, small non-profit spaces, commercial galleries, artist-run spaces and university galleries dedicated to the presentation of contemporary art.

HIGHLIGHTS

* Exhibition walkthrough with Angela Two Stars of the exhibition She Who Lives on the Road to War at All My Relations.

* A Conversation at TOA Presents with the artist Kim Benson and Robert Cozzolino, the Patrick and Aimee Butler Curator of Paintings at the Minneapolis Institute of Art

* View a live printmaking demo with artist Mike Marks at Burnet Fine Art & Advisory

* Join Leslie Barlow on a tour of PF Studios, a program that cultivates BIPOC + marginalized artists’ presence and growth.

* Celebrate Jannis Kounellis in Six Acts at the Walker’s late-night preview party with live music and DJ sets, specialty cocktails, delicious bites, and a drop-in art-making workshop.

* Walkthrough A Picture Gallery of the Soul with independent curator Herman J. Milligan, Jr. and Howard Oransky, Director of the Katherine E. Nash Gallery. This group exhibition of over 100 Black American artists whose work incorporates the photographic medium includes Dawoud Bey, Kwame Brathwaite, Nona Faustine, LaToya Ruby Frazier, Lorna Simpson, and Carrie Mae Weems among many others.

* Walkthrough Allison Baker’s solo exhibition with the artist and view Women’s Work, a program of films and videos featuring work by Pipilotti Rist, Mika Rottenberg, Alex Praeger, Laurel Nakadate and Ja’Tovia Gary among other artists at Dreamsong.
